| The Forgotten History of Small Circle Jujitsu and Jeet Kune Do Great Grandmaster Wally Jay, the founder of Small Circle Jujitsu, taught Grandmaster Bruce Lee at his home dojo in Alameda, CA. Grandmaster Lee sought him out to learn Judo and Jujitsu grappling techniques. These two great martial artists were good friends who mutually admired each other's arts and talents. Together they discussed and examined principles, techniques, and approaches. This collaboration influenced the development of their respective arts. Jeet Kune Do and Small Circle Jujitsu thus share common developmental history. Professor Hundon, as Great Grandmaster Jay's top student, is the first to truly tie together Small Circle Jujitsu and Jeet Kune Do Concepts, bridging the historical connections between the two arts. He is highly qualified to do this, having trained in both arts throughout his extensive martial arts career. His earliest teachers, Newt Kamakani and Felix Macias, were both students of Grandmaster Bruce Lee. When he became a student of Great Grandmaster Jay in the 1970's, he already had a foundation in Jun Fan Concepts. Later on he trained with Sijo Leo T. Fong, a student and friend of Grandmaster Bruce Lee. Professor Hundon's approach in developing Ju Trap Boxingsm has always been to integrate complementary elements of these arts together. Professor Hundon is currently a Phase One Instructor of Jeet Kune Do Concepts, certified by Sigung Paul Vunak, the top student of Guru Dan Inosanto. |
